Stitching One Stitch

Step #1

full cross & back

Make a single stitch leaving a long tail on the back.

(Turn fabric so that tail runs vertically.)

Step #2

Bring needle under horizontal thread

and pull your floss to the right over the tail.

Take your needle under the two vertical threads

and pull needle away from you.

Step #3

tieing

Take one tail in your right hand at the one o'clock position and one tail in your left hand at the 9 o'clock position

and gently pull until secure.

Step #4

cut tails

If you are stitching an afghan or pillow, cut your tail about 1/4" (A). If you have stitched a piece to be framed, cut your tail closer (B).

Tip: Dampen stitch so that the floss will shrink and hold the stitch secure...then cut tails.
