Our
very FIRST finished pillows have arrived.
Linda Ruplinger of Oakfield, WI, was the first person
to stitch and return both of the pillows for
our 25th Anniversary Project.
We received these nicely stitched pillows
on August 18th, 2003.
Great work, Linda!!
We have sent out 1950 pillows
- 819 have been returned.
(These are NEW FIGURES--the previous figures were incorrect)
Here are a few of the happy
recipients of the pillows
that were stitched with such love and compassion!

NEW as of JULY 12th, 2006
I thought you would like
to meet another of the "pillow recipient" children from
Palmetto Richland Hospital.
Ariel was diagnosed in Winnsboro on June 22 and was transported
to Palmetto Richland on the 23rd. Her mother received a packet
from the social worker that included my number as a contact person
for Make
A Child Smile (this
link will take yo right to Ariel's page.) She was also given one
of your pillows.
Wednesday I went to the hospital to take pictures and get information
for an application to MACS. The family does not have a computer
so I am the contact person. We worked in record time to get Ariel
featured on July 1 so that she would get cards and gifts for her
birthday, which is this week. right now Ariel is getting her mail
through my PO box, but we have a donor who will sponsor a box
in Winnsboro next month. The donor and I both stitch for Love
Quilts To Make A Child Smile
and we immediately asked what kind of quilt Ariel would like.
The answer was a Precious Moments quilt because she loved her
PM pillow.
Our private online stitching group, the Cross Stitch Addicts,
has claimed Ariel and will stitch the Love Quilt for mid-January
of next year. We are excited because we can stitch ethnic squares
for Ariel. She is a mixed race child and is used to seeing her
family with all different skin shades. Your books are wonderful
for that feature.
Hope that you enjoy hearing another story about how far your pillow
project is reaching.
Thank you for coming up with this great project.
Vicki

" Thanks again for all the pillows.
Families have been so touched by receiving them.
In fact, many have said that it made them want to cry to receive
something for
their child that took that much time. Attached are some pictures
we took
of a few of the patients that have received them. Thanks, Susan
Shumpert "
