Pat Carson, President
Pat Carson, along with Gloria Steele, started Gloria & Pat Originals in 1973, which later was changed to and incorporated into Designs by Gloria & Pat, Inc. in 1975. They learned their first lesson in counted cross stitch on a settee at the Hammock Shop in Pawley's Island, SC, by the first lady of cross stitch, Ginnie Thompson. Gloria and Pat became the first designers in the U.S. to publish a book in counted cross stitch--Count Your Stitches.
In 1979, the girls met with Samuel J. Butcher, artist and now renown creator of Precious Moments®, to show him his Goose Girl (Honk If You Love Jesus) and two angels on a cloud (Love Goes On Forever) that they had converted to cross stitch. The rest is cross stitch history!
In the late '70s, they met with Priscilla Hillman and published the very first Merry Mouse book in 1980. It was not until 1990 that the Cherished Teddiesä line was started as Priscilla's Precious Bears. Also included in Priscilla's artwork are the Bashful Bunnies, Calico Kittens, and Petticoat Lane.
Gloria passed away in 1984, and as a loving tribute to her memory and wonderful friendship, Pat insisted the company name remain unchanged.
Today, Pat Carson continues publishing Precious Moments®, Cherished Teddies books/leaflets, and has recently acquired the license for Raggedy Anne & Raggedy Andy , with several leaflets/kits now in the marketplace.Pat is actively teaching needlework techniques throughout the U.S. and across the globe, to inspire new growth and revitalize excitement in the needlework industry.
Meet the Corporate Staff Carol Hoshour

Louise Prescott
"Girl Friday!"Our resident Stitcher Extraordinaire, Louise has worked for the company for 24 years. She works with our stitchers, proofs our publications, repairs all of the stitched models and, in her SPARE time, she stitches many of our models! We wouldn't know WHAT to do without her.
Our Graphic Artist, Anne Stanton, enjoys the luxury of working mainly from home. We also have many at-home stitchers who create all of the models for our publications.
